Tiananmen square protest 1989

Tiananmen square protest is commonly known as June fourth incident in China. Those were students-led demonstration held in Tiananmen square in Beijing during 1989. Those protests started on April 15,1989 and ended on June 4,1989 when government declared martial law. Military troops with assault rifles and tanks fired at the demonstration and those trying to block the military's advance into Tiananmen square. Exact number of deaths is not cleared, the death toll vary from several hundred to several thousand, with thousands more wounded. Those protests occurred at Beijing and approximately 400 cities around China.
The main reason of those protests were death of Hu yaobang, economic reform, inflation, political corruption, nepotism, third wave of democracy.
Those protests were lead by student and worker federations.The methods used in those protests were hunger strike, sit in, occupation of public square. Those protests resulted in enforcement of martial law declared by Premier Li Peng in certain areas of Beijing, people's liberation army fired at protesters by that hundreds to thousands killed, thousands were wounded inside and outside the tiananmen square, the morale of protesters lay down and protests fallen down. Leaders and activists later exiled or imprisoned, operation yellow bird started, market reforms delayed, media control tightened, freedom of speech restricted, political reform halted.
